Fantastic behind the scenes tour of this Grade 1 listed theatre. Restored to Victorian spec the wooden scenery mechanism is the only one in the country which is still working.
The guided tours are excellent. The volunteer guides are friendly and knowledgable and you get to see the backstage areas and dressing rooms in addition to the auditorium. The intricate Victorian machinery beneath the stage to operate the trapdoors is especially interesting. And you get a free coffee or tea afterwards.
