York Minster Library

Excellent place to study and consult for research

Behind the Yorkminster in some lovely gardens (Dean's Park) is a war memorial and this small church with its library and archives. The library and archive is in the Old Palace it used to be the chapel of the Archbishop of York and was built in the 13th century.

The library of the York Minster has a long tradition and contains a huge amount of history. It’s a bit of a shame that all of it is quite hidden. In my opinion a small part of the library should be converted to an exhibition with some of the most notable books on display.
