Originally a Roman Catholic church built for the holy sacrifice of the Mass by Catholic priests it was stolen by Henry VIII and his friends along with all the Catholic buildings land and items used for worship for hundreds years and placed in private ownership.

Such an old church build even before Durham cathedral.The lady that was there was so welcoming and happy to talk about the church.

Impressive building in good repair and in current use. Easy enough to access. Set back from the main road. Not especially large. Surrounding area seems a bit run down. Visit on a fine day as there is no shelter.
